PWCSafetySchool.com is a free, NASBLA and Hawai`i State Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation (DOBOR) approved, boater education Internet course. It is the first step in the Kanalu K38 training program for operating a PWC in the State of Hawaii. The PWC owner/operator must also complete the classroom and practical portions of the Kanalu K38 program to be fully certified and legally operate a PWC in Hawaii.

Following completion of the PWCSafetySchool.com course you will be provided a downloadable PWCSafetySchool.com certificate of completion number necessary to complete the process for the Hawai`i Boater Education Card. You will need both of these – PWCSS & HBEC – to register for the practical courses offered by KANALU K38. Click on the link for KANALU K38 and fill out the application form provided. Be sure to include your PWCSS number to receive your printable HBEC card after the online payment process is completed. You may also send a completed COPY of the application form and a $15.00 fee (check or money order) to:

ANALU K38
P.O. Box 5248
Kaneohe, Hawaii 96744

The PWCSafety School course and issuance of the Hawaii Boater Education Card are for the express purpose of preparing an individual for the practical phase of the KANALU K38 PWC course.

All PWC owner/operators, once provided with the Hawai`i Boater Education Card, must register for a Kanalu K38 classroom and practical course that must be completed within one year. Visit the Kanalu K38 web site for program cost information.  The PWC owner/operator is not yet fully certified at this point and will be restricted to specific operational areas in State waters while engaged in this program.

Upon satisfactory completion of both the classroom and practical portions of the Kanalu K38 program, a validation decal will be issued and must be renewed every three years through Kanalu K38.

Though focused on safe personal watercraft use, this course covers all aspects of safe boating as required by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators and the Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation (DOBOR) - State of Hawai`i.
